Digital particle image velocimetry records high resolution images and allows the identification of the position of points in different time instants. This paper explores the efficiency of the digital image-technique for remote monitoring of surface velocity and discharge measurement in hyper-concentrated flow by the way of laboratory experiment. One of the challenges in the application of the image-technique is the evaluation of the error in estimating surface velocity. This research aims to describe pattern recognition models for detecting behavioural and health-related changes in a patient who is monitored continuously in an assisted living environment. The early anticipation of anomalies can improve the rate of disease prevention. Here we present different learning techniques for predicting abnormalities and behavioural trends in various user contexts. The aim of this work is to present a narrow band power line communication (NB-PLC) interface protection system (IPS) for distributed generators (DGs); it has been developed according to the current standard CEI 0-21 and the requirements for smart grid applications. For such applications, the new IPSs have to implement new intelligent functions such as remote monitoring and control of DGs and Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) inverters, not only in terms of disconnection but also of voltage regulation and power modulation by the utility control. NIGHT-Care: A Passive RFID System for Remote Monitoring and Control of Overnight Living Environment

AbstractAn Ambient Intelligence platform, NIGHTCare, for remote monitoring and control of overnight living environment is here proposed. The platform, entirely based on RFID passive technology is able to recognize nocturnal behaviors and activities, generates automatic alarms in case of anomalous or pathological events and support diagnostics. The results of a complete test in real scenario are presented, together with a numerical assessment of electromagnetic safety issues.
